ABOUT
My name is Veerle Houben (1999, Eijsden), an audiovisual artist based in Maastricht. My work centers around visualizing emotions and feelings that are difficult to capture in words. After completing my Visual Communication studies at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in 2021, I graduated cum laude with a Master's degree in Audiovisual Arts from LUCA School of Arts in Genk in 2025.
In my installations, I try to offer more than just visuals by creating physical spaces that enhance the experience of my work. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to be more open about their own feelings.
My first solo exhibition, Twenty Something, gives voice to themes like self-discovery, relationships, and mental health. Developed for and with young people in Maastricht.
Alongside my artistic practice, I work in communication and multimedia at CineSud, a regional hub for film talent in the south of the Netherlands. This role keeps me closely connected to the audiovisual field and its creative community.
